Lucas Black Joins Cast of Fast & Furious 7

In case you were wondering whether the cast of the next Fast & Furious installment was large enough already, the producers have an answer for you: No. Lucas Black, who starred in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, will join the upcoming installment to reprise his role as Sean Boswell—an American high-school student who is shipped off to Japan to live with his father and falls into the dangerous world of drift racing.
Black’s inclusion once again demonstrates just how committed the Fast & Furious franchise is to canon. If you recall, Tokyo Drift ended with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) pulling up to race against Sean in memory of Han (Sung Kang, who was killed in the second half of Tokyo Drift—an event that was replayed at the close of Fast & Furious 6). If Sean were able to prove himself in that race—and his skills in the final drift competition of Tokyo Drift indicate that he would have little trouble doing just that—it makes all the sense in the world that Dom would offer him a spot on the crew, and that Sean, also seeking revenge for Han’s death, would be more than inclined to accept..
